October. A time of changing seasons, fall spices, and the joys of Halloween. For all the fun that dressing up and eating candy is, Halloween is a messy holiday. Candy on the rugs, makeup on the couch, glue on the table. This year, not only must you worry about normal Halloween preparations, but you also have to think about how to have a fun and safe holiday. Here are some tips for you to make the Halloween cleanup as stress-free as possible.
Tip 1: Have the necessary tools to clean the chaos. Multi-surface cleaners, stain removers, degreasers, floor cleaner and microfiber cloths are must-haves for cleaning messes quickly and easily. For Halloween-related spills, stain removers and degreasers are vital for getting those pesky stains out of various materials. Glue and adhesive removers are also useful during this time, in case you spill some while making costumes and decorations. By having all the necessary tools on hand, you can be sure that all mayhem you encounter will be easy to handle.
Tip 2: Know the steps to combat carpet and rug stains. When candy, chocolate, or gum gets into your carpet or rug, all is not lost! First, remove as much of the solid parts as you can. If it’s candy or gum, you may need to use a damp cloth to loosen the sticky parts from the carpet or rug fibers. Just dampen a cloth and hold it to the candy or gum, lightly pulling and coaxing until it comes free. Next, spray a stain remover on the remainder of the stain. Note: make sure you test the spray on an inconspicuous spot of carpet or rug first to ensure that the spray won’t discolor your carpet or rug.
